Children change in ways you don't notice until you do. The same goes for grandparents, partners, the way light falls on your front porch in the early evening. A family session is not about poses — it is about preserving who you are right now, in your own way.
Sessions are on-location across Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, and the Eastern Iowa Corridor. We'll pick a place that means something to you — a park, your home, downtown, or somewhere new we explore together.
Two session lengths. Pick the one that fits your family and how much room you want for variety.
A focused hour together at the location of your choice. Best for families who know roughly what they want and need an hour of real moments captured.
Extended session with room for outfit changes and a second location. Good if you want different vibes — say a park and a downtown walk, or indoor and outdoor.
A few favorites — though we're not limited to these. If you have a place that means something to your family, that's the place we should be.
One of the best year-round locations in the Corridor. Tall grass in summer, golden trees in fall, snow-covered prairie in winter. Lots of variety in a single short walk.
For families who want a more urban feel — coffee shops, the Old Capitol, the pedestrian mall. Especially beautiful in the late afternoon as the brick warms up.
Quieter than Kent Park, with deep woods that feel a world away from the city. Beautiful filtered light in the morning.
Perfect for graduation photos or families with U of I ties. Also a great spot for senior portraits with that classic collegiate feel.
The estate grounds at Brucemore offer some of the most beautiful settings in Eastern Iowa. Permission is required ahead of time — I'll help arrange it.
The most underrated location. Your kitchen at breakfast, the living room where everyone gathers, the porch you sit on at sunset. Real life is the best backdrop.
I'll give gentle direction — where to stand, what to do with your hands — but the goal is for it to feel like an hour of being together, not an hour of posing.
If they're shy at first, we'll let them warm up. If they're chaotic, we'll work with the chaos. The best photos usually happen when nobody's trying.
I'll send you a short style guide once you book — coordinating colors without matching, what to wear that photographs well, what to avoid.
You'll get your full hand-edited gallery within two weeks. Often sooner. I know waiting is hard when you can't stop thinking about how the kids looked that day.
The most popular season. I typically open fall dates in early summer and they fill up by August. If you want fall colors, book by July.
Cold but gorgeous. Snow makes for unbelievable family photos. Holiday card sessions in early November are the most popular — book by October.
Spring blossoms, new green, golden hour stretches longer. Beautiful and less booked than fall, so easier to schedule.
Long light, late evenings, every flower in bloom. Best for outdoor or at-home lifestyle sessions. Book 4–6 weeks ahead.
Send an inquiry with your family size, a rough date or window, and where you'd like to shoot. I'll be in touch within 24 hours.
